What is Jikiden Reiki® ?

Jikiden means “directly passed down,” referring to an unbroken lineage of teaching from teacher to student. Reiki (Usui Reiki Ryōhō) is a traditional Japanese practice with over 100 years of history. The word Reiki is made up of Rei, meaning universal or all-encompassing, and Ki, meaning life energy.

Reiki is understood as the vital life force that flows through all living things. In this view, the body is an energetic system, and physical or emotional stress can disrupt this flow, leading to feelings of tension, fatigue, or imbalance.

Reiki Ryōhō is a gentle, hands-on practice that supports relaxation and the body’s natural ability to restore balance. During a session, the practitioner acts as a channel, allowing energy to flow through their hands to encourage deep relaxation and release of tension. The recipient simply lies down and rests while the treatment takes place.

Jikiden Reiki emphasizes working with these natural energetic patterns to help ease physical and emotional strain and support overall wellbeing. It is also used in some clinical and therapeutic environments as a complementary approach to care, alongside conventional treatments.

Importantly, Reiki does not replace medical diagnosis or treatment. It is considered a complementary practice that may be safely used alongside standard medical care to support relaxation, stress reduction, and the body’s natural recovery processes.
